Chelsea, Quebec
These scenic ruins on the shores of Gatineau Park's Meech Lake are all that remain of a dam, generating station and acid condensation tower built by Canadian inventor Thomas Leopold “Carbide” Willson in 1911. Now a favourite haunt of Ottawa and Gatineau residents, a well-timed fall hike provides beautiful scenery after heavy rainfalls.
